[JURUPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA. May 8, 2026] CareerSafe is proud to announce that Jaelyne Romero has been named the 2026 National Career & Technical Education Student of the Year. Jaelyne is a senior at Rubidoux High School in Jurupa Valley, California, where she has spent four years building a remarkable record of leadership, academic excellence, and community service through the school’s agriculture program and FFA chapter. Selected from nearly 300 nominations from across the country, this recognition reflects the extraordinary impact Jaelyne has made on her school, her peers, and her community.
As part of this honor, Jaelyne will receive:
- A $2,500 scholarship to support her continued education.
- A personalized highlight video showcasing her achievements and the voices of those who know her best.
- Award presentations and watch party at her school’s FFA Awards Night and Senior Awards Night.
- National recognition through press coverage, social media features, and online announcements.
Jaelyne’s journey in agricultural education began her freshman year when she enrolled in Rubidoux’s horsemanship program — one of only a handful of programs in California to have horses on campus. From that first hands-on experience, she threw herself into every opportunity available to her. She rose through the ranks of her FFA chapter, serving as treasurer, secretary, and ultimately chapter president. She embraced that leadership while also excelling in National Honor Society, AVID, and dual enrollment college courses, all while raising livestock, competing in FFA events, and volunteering in her community.
As part of her CTE pathway, Jaelyne earned her OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Card through CareerSafe’s agriculture-focused curriculum — a credential of value she has carried since her freshman year.
“Having that credential means a lot to me. It’s helped me to connect with others in the agriculture industry — and it’s something I can take with me wherever I go.”
— Jaelyne Romero, 2026 National CTE Student of the Year
After graduation, Jaelyne plans to attend California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, to study Agricultural Science — a dream she has held since her freshman year. Her goal is to become an agriculture teacher, inspired by the educators who have invested in her along the way.
Jaelyne will be recognized at her school’s FFA Awards Night on Friday, May 8, 2026 and again at Senior Awards Night on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Rubidoux High School, 4250 Opal St, Jurupa Valley, CA 92509.
