Our Impact

Our mission at CareerSafe® is to deliver Safety Education for America's Future™. Our vision is to advance and enhance OSHA’s outreach by providing every young worker with workplace safety training prior to taking their first job. To this end, we are committed to offering affordable, informative and innovative online safety training to reach as many young workers as possible.

According to the CDC, there were approximately 19.4 million young people entering the workforce under the age of 24 in 2018—but this does not mean that these young workers are necessarily prepared and able to handle risks and hazards that can occur in a work environment. Not being knowledgeable of hazards related to a specific job or knowing how to assess and correct a problem can lead to devastating injuries or even death for a worker. Safety training can make workers more conscious of hazards and risks such as falls, vehicle accidents, overexertion injuries, and workplace violence. Unfortunately, many workplaces offer little to no job-related safety training which can leave workers and others on the job site unprotected. Based on current statistics, young workers, ages 16-24, continue to have the highest rates of work-related injuries and illnesses; greater than any other age group. Here at CareerSafe, we are focused on providing young workers with foundational skills for life through safety, health and security awareness training. We have reached over one million young workers, but there are millions more that are still at risk and we are committed to expanding our outreach to ensure that every young worker has the basic knowledge and skills necessary to be safe, healthy and secure in the workplace.

A Letter from our founder

Over the next decade, due to the gaps in the current workforce, the skilled trades and industries will see a need to add millions of new workers with some studies predicting that over 2 million skilled trade jobs may go unfilled. To meet this need, CareerSafe has partnered with various industry professionals, career and technical student organizations, and CTE educators to help raise up the next generation of skilled professionals while establishing solid foundational safety and health mindsets. On this mission, we have been able to come alongside OSHA through our Youth Outreach Alliance to proclaim the message that “No Job is Worth A Young Worker’s Life.”

I founded our company based on this very sentiment.  Whether a young worker lacks the skills to obtain employment, faces physical safety hazards at a job, or is navigating the risks associated with online activity, our safety and health courses have proven themselves to be an engaging, informative solution to helping students mitigate risks and stay safe. Because we believe in continuous improvement, we launched our CareerSafe NexGen project in 2019. Our NexGen courses incorporate a next generation instructional design model enhancing learning interactivity while allowing students to take our courses on a wide range of internet connected devices.  The response to NexGen from our teachers and students has been overwhelmingly positive.

In 2017, we met a milestone of training one million students. In 2019, we surpassed reaching over one and one half million students.  With our presence already in over 4,000 education institutions located in all 50 states, it is our sincere hope that 2019’s accelerated trajectory echoes and amplifies our outreach as there are millions more young workers that are still at risk. To reach these students, we are committed to expanding and improving our online training to ensure that every young worker has the basic knowledge and skills necessary to be safe, healthy, and secure in the workplace.

We are equal parts excited and hopeful that the creation of our NexGen courses coupled with our outreach success will help close the safety and health skills gap and pave the way for all young workers to be safe on the job. It is a daunting task, but we are committed to our vision of “providing every young worker with safety and health training prior to their first job.”

We look forward to this year’s growth in our safety and health outreach as we take one step closer to achieving our next goal of training one million young workers a year.
